About This Splash Pad
Billy Johnson Playground features two granite slides, including one that stretches 45 feet, alongside a miniature version of Gapstow Bridge and a wooden shelter that echo the natural landscape of Central Park. Designed by renowned landscape architect M. Paul Friedberg, the playground incorporates custom play elements rather than standard equipment, with surrounding plantings and trails that connect visitors to the park's environment. A 2018 renovation by the Central Park Conservancy preserved the playground's rustic design while expanding play options and improving accessibility for all visitors.
