Battery Playscape is a 1.4-acre playground divided into five ecology zones, each with distinct water play and climbing features. The Bluff contains five granite slides ranging from low and medium doubles (accessible via wheelchair transfer platforms) to an 18-foot high slide, while the Riverbed offers water that cascades into a sand basin where children can discover hidden harbor creatures. The Marsh features seven playhouses at various elevations connected by ladders and bridges, and the Dune includes a 9-foot climbing wall alongside ShowBox, an innovative outdoor improv theater with a 14-by-14-foot stage. Opened in December 2021, the playground is designed to withstand flooding and incorporates native plantings, bioswales, and stormwater management features, with daily access from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
